What is Project 1001?
Driven by the spirit of adventure and exploration, I am on a quest to become the most traveled person in the Kingdom of Denmark. NomadMania, a respected authority in the travel world, has identified 1,301 unique regions across the globe, encompassing areas defined by regions, states, provinces, territories, dependencies, island groups, isolated islands, and various enclaves and exclaves.
In 2012, Denmark lost its most traveled man, Bjarne Lund-Jensen, who passed away peacefully in his sleep. The dedicated school teacher from Funen had visited an impressive 772 NomadMania regions, earning him the title of the most traveled Dane according to NomadMania.
To honor his legacy and push the boundaries of exploration further, I launched #Project773 in 2024. Reaching 773 NomadMania regions would have made me Denmark’s most traveled man. However, the Danish travel community is thriving (someone beat me to it) so I have upped my goal to #Project1001 inspired by One Thousand and One Nights. Unlike the strict rules I followed during Once Upon A Saga—where I couldn't fly, had to stay in each country for a minimum of 24 hours, and couldn't return home until the journey's end—Project 1001 will allow for more flexibility and fun. I’m excited to revisit countries around the world and discover new, uncharted parts of them.
Keep an eye out for me as I embark on this thrilling adventure—returning to familiar lands and exploring new territories! This journey promises to be an extraordinary experience!
